Metacognitive competency and mind set
The strength as identified above in the MAI questionnaire is declarative knowledge whereas the weakness is procedural knowledge. I am good at declarative knowledge as I know the strategies that are helpful to me in learning in the best possible way. However I sometimes struggle with applying those strategies which is why procedural knowledge is my weakness.
From the growth mindset questionnaire, my strength is my attitude towards challenges and effort as I remain highly committed in troublesome situations whereas the weakness is the ability to process and evaluate criticism, as it is very difficult for me to apply feedback in a meaningful way.
Self directed learning goal and plan
My self directed learning goal is to improve my academic writing through focusing on developing my researching skills. The success measure would be when I would be able to source relevant scholarly articles and write an essay using those sources.
Strengths supporting the goal
My declarative knowledge would be crucial as it allows me to apply the strategies in improving my writing. My mindset strength would allow me to not give up and keep searching for articles relevant to my essay.
Weaknesses hindering the goal
The metacognitive weakness of procedural knowledge would act as a barrier in applying strategy while searching articles, whereas mindset weakness might delay my process of searching relevant articles.
Strategy to overcome weaknesses
My strategy to deal with the weakness is to take the feedback in a positive way while searching sources for my academic essay.
