Assessment Overview
For the three assessments in this course, you will assume the role of a consultant hired to review and report on administration systems and processes for an organisation’s management team.
The aim of Assessment 1 is to demonstrate effective use of administration systems and processes used in organisations. You will do this by producing Part A of a report in application to a chosen organisation’s context.
For additional guidance on mark allocation, please refer to the marking schedule below.
Report: Part A
Choose one (1) organisation from the following options:
- the scenario provided in a separate Word document (Appendix A – Organisation scenario)
- a current business or organisation you are working for.
Produce the first part of a professional formal report for your chosen organisation’s management team, including the requirements below.
1. Introduction
Start the first part of your report by writing an ‘Introduction’ section that provides:
- a summary of the organisation you chose above
- the purpose and contents of this first part of the report.
(Word count guideline: 150 words) (10 marks)
2. Discussion
a. Describe one (1) key administration system relevant to the organisation you chose above and demonstrate how effective use of this system does, or could, impact the organisation’s achievement of its mission and objectives. Include in your discussion:
two (2) key points on the importance of effectively using the system (30 marks)
one (1) local factor from Aotearoa New Zealand’s distinct organisational, cultural or regulatory environment (5 marks)
one (1) real-world example from research that demonstrates effective or ineffective use of systems. (5 marks)

(Total: 40 marks)
b. Choose one (1) key administration process relevant to the organisation you chose above and demonstrate how effective use of this system does, or could, impact the organisation’s achievement of its mission and objectives. Include in your discussion: two (2) key points on the importance of effectively using the process

3. Overall presentation and referencing
a. A clear report structure for Part A of your report, with standard business report aspects, including: title page, section headings, author, date, page numbers with appropriate formatting.
Writing with clear and professional language, free from spelling and grammatical errors.

b. A minimum of five (5) credible and relevant sources that are correctly referenced throughout Part A of your report, with application of APA 7th edition format to both in-text citations and the end-of-report reference list.
